Eating in Leyland
I always got my veg from 'Paul's Farm Shop' on Dunkirk Lane when I lived in Croston, and I make a point of going there when I'm 'home' again, lovely fresh veg which keeps a long time, jolly atmosphere...
My Mum used to get her veg from 'Sven' on the Towngate market, and he'd deliver early evening - '' Hallo , little lady!! Is yer Mudder in??''
Also enjoyed going to a farm shop at the top of Highfield Road, just out of Croston, where the owner used to say '' Aye, these are right fresh, the wife picked 'em just this morning.'' A phrase which we still repeat if we're having anything from the garden....
I had to ban my kids from getting out of the car there, as they'd noticed he had a red wig and wouldn't stop sniggering!

A pie without a crust is a tart! We can't get them in this area of Brittany, but they do sell them much further to the West, in Finisterre, with fillings such as onion or ham and spinach.. t'aint traditional of course...

Do any of you remember Lambert,s fruit/veg/fish shop at the corner of Stanifield Lane & Mill st[?] I remember getting small bags of shrimp's with plenty of vinegar from there.

Also have fond memories of Charlie Carruthers little sweet shop round the corner in Mill st. Those were the days.

I have found the elusive licorice root in a big supermarket in Dinan. Several short sticks sold in a small tub. Who will buy them I dunno- I didn't really want that many!

It took you nine months to remember that, Noel. As long as the wait for a baby!!

Perhaps a bit of licorice root would've helped the process, hahahaha!!

You'll get Rock Salmon in Kent Martin. Horrible ugly cat fish with great big bones down the middle.
Or jellied eels. 8-)
