Frank Sumner
#13
In the late 40's rag and bone Frank Sumner would drive his horse and cart bawling [all in one word] 'Aayrabone', he was known as 'Cotton wool ears' in our house, for obvious reasons. In the mid 70's he also ran a house moving company and moved us from Preston back to Leyland. He arrived with an assortment of ancient 'Dormobile' type vans and a crew of 'ne'r do wells', he was a fraction of the cost of the big companies. Nothing was broken or marked, and he still had the cotton wool in his ears. Thanks Frank, happy memories.
