Our Virgin Mobile cell phone service is actually a re-marketing of Sprint for people who don't use their cell phones very frequently.
My wife and I view our mobiles as an emergency means of getting in touch with each other and very rarely for any other use. We have to top up every six months to keep the account active.
The minutes never expire, and my accoount has about 1400 minutes and my wife's has even more.
We haven't activated text messaging, since we can see no viable use for it.
Every now and then, when the number of available minutes is getting ridiculous, we call friends who have a reputation for verbosity when on the phone and burn off the excess minutes.
Virgin Mobile is a good option if you don't use your cell phone very much.
BTW, I can't imagine why anyone would put up with all the crap that AOL subjects its members to. Paul Allen has a lot to answer for!
