Your absolutely right Jim, I used to have a V8 Chevy - the mnost unreliable new car I've ever owned , it;s overall length and trunk (boot) was immence as was the engine compartment, but the passenger space was not particularly good in the front and awful on the back.
Returning to the calamatous oil spill.
It's distressing and incredible to realise that drilling was allowed in the gulf without any proven back up systems capable of cutting off the flow , I've learened that such back up systems are manadory when drilling in Canadaian waters and a second drill has also to provided at the same time rather than is the case in the gulf where they are only drilling such relief bores after the event . The release from US drilling safety responsibility was provided thanks to Cheyney and Bush .
The aftermath could well be catastrophic too, the carbons are going to be broken up with the dispersal fluids bering used . but many toxins will not be contained and will likely enter the food chain yhr longer term effect being presently unknown .
I have to wonder what plans are afoot to deal with this problem,I know it's late but in the absense of knowing anything about what is being done , I 'm inclined to design a containment system myself !
