julie my email address is (removed by moderator) it would be great to talk to you .
Olive, it's not safe to post your email address on a forum which can be read by anyone - you could end up with a lot of malicious stuff in your in-box! Julie can email you via the Forum by clicking on your name to reach your profile and then clicking on "send email". This allows other forum members to email you without revealing your e-address. Sorry for interfering, but it's important to stay safe on line.

Hi Julie and all,
Just to say hello from a new Forum user. Lived in Lakes for many years now, but lived Leyland till appx 1971. Anyone remember (younger) sister Margery Robinson (went to Balshaws)? - married David Miller 1967-8, and their wedding reception was at the Gables. I worked at Leyland UDC (now South Ribble Borough Council).
Would be interested in attending any reunions of that era.

Yes welcome Brenda, hope you contribute some more. What year would Margery have been at Balshaws?

Well isn't it a small world. I have been reading these postings and although do not know any of the people, some names have cropped up ie Susan Billington and her mum Mildred, they used to be neighbours of mine in the sixties when i lived on Wade Hall. Also cannot identify Spitfire and Noel as I used to work at the Black Bull when Ron was landlord. Anyone know now what has happened to the place, Julie were you friends with my daughter diane, she used to go to Balshaws

Hi Noel and all
Margery would have been at Balshaws appx 1959-1964/5. She had a spell working at the local Co-op; and I'm sure she would have frequented the Gables. She was/is a member of this forum (it was she who told me about it). Anyone remember older sister Eileen Robinson? (sadly now deceased) - went to Preston Winckley Square then the Park School (we lived in Preston then).

I'm an ex-Gables regular from the 70's to the mid 90's, I'm looking forward to seeing Steve in a few weeks for a few pints - been a long time.

Update on the above - I'll be calling in to the Gables for a pint or three probably the first weekend in April
