Hello chaps, first time poster here!
Just wondering if anyone can help with this. There's a small bit of Longmeanygate (I think someone referred to it as "Shortmeanygate", which makes more sense!), that links the bottom of Golden Hill Lane with Schleswig Way bypass.
This part of Longmeanygate is more built up than the other side; it's restricted to 30mph, but the traffic that goes down there does not seem to adhere!
Also, it's very hard for residents to get from Lowther Drive / Cresent to the other side of the road as there is no pedestrian crossing, even at the lights. A lot of school kids (including my own) live in the Lowther Drive estate, and it seems like it's some mistake that one hasn't been put in.
After looking around I found minutes of some council meetings where a crossing was suggested but it was refused and the issue raised with Lancashire Highways. This was back in 2004, and I can find no reference to any comeback.
Does anyone out there know of any reason why this might be the case? Can anyone shed any light on this?
Many thanks in advance.
Paul.
