Does anyone remember playing 'Trust weight' at school.
Trust weight was a game that divided into two teams of maybe 4 to 8 lads. One team bent forward in a line from a wall or railings with the first person anchored to the railing (usually the strongest lad),and to hold on to the lad in front tight.
The other team had to leapfrog as far as possible up onto the team bent over, the idea was to get as many lads as possible onto the ones bent down causing them to collapse.

We didnt exactly play the same game it was a case of one over one and we called it 'leap frog'. I suppose that was a slightly less dangerous form of your game.

Yes, I clearly remember lines of red-faced lads bent double and the others jumping on their backs and the shout that went up when they fell over- I wondered what the point was!

I can only think it might possibly build up strength for rugby scrums!

It was fun and it taught you to operate as a team, was banned at Wellfield while I was their because someone got hurt badly.

I wondered what the point was then but I can work it out now! I wonder what the tactics were to win- try and target the weakling in the chain, perhaps? Or dive on with great force?

I can't remember anything like this but I'm not surprised it got banned, broken backs and all that.
I do remember British Bulldog we played in the scouts where one person "in the middle" had to try and stop the rest of the troup getting past him. Anyone he grabbed hold of had to join him and so on until everyone was stopped. But even that's been banned now.

I'm not surprised, Noel. My 'accomplice' Al had his arm broken in three places while playing this in a Sports lesson- the worst aspect being that it was the teacher who did it! A man who didn't like to lose, in other games he'd swop sides if his team was losing.
Anyone remember a similar Games Master depicted in 'Kes'? And elsewhere?
