Last night/this morning my wifes car was broken into whilst it was parked at the rear of our house!
You never expect it to happen at home, infact you dont expect it to happen!
They smashed the passengers window and stole the cd player. Luckily they weren't Beetles fans and decided to leave my CD!! [:p]
Nothing else was taken and my 3 other cars (which were all unlocked) weren't touched!
Police didnt think they would get a suitable fingerprint sample due to the surfaces in the car and because its been wet. My wife dealt with the police completely over the phone which saved us from waiting around all day! Luckily her Aunty works at a scrap yard and managed to sort us a replacement window.
One good thing came out of it..... She was forced to give the car a good hoover out!! It was very much over due!!

It's a horrible feeling isn't it? We had ours nearly broken into at The Jarvis as Leyland Hotel used to be called and were left with a brokenlock to replace and marks round the door where the thieves..who had already "done" a number of other cars on the car park had tried to get in.. and failed. The irony was I'd left the car unlocked and they never thought to try opening it. Must be a motto there Ant do you think?
The thieves, or non-thieves in my case turned out to be a couple of Scousers who had been stealing from hotels and pubs close to motorways, for a quick exit and got a prison sentence. Glad you got sorted.

I had mine broken into about 6 years ago now, but I still don't go anywhere near the scene of the crime. I was on my own taking some flowers to the churchyard and parked at the back near the skip in front of the pensioners' flats. I wouldn't mind, but I saw the other car when I was returning from filling up the vase and thought nothing of it. Next thing I heard was a smash and the car alarm. They'd gone by the time I realised what had happened. Unfortunately I'd left my bag under the passenger seat and the thieves must've spotted it. I felt awful because they took all the contents and it was at the time I was up here visiting so I had no ID and no money. The police said they'd checked the security camera but couldn't find anything with the thieve's car on it. Another lesson learned!!

I had a car nicked a few years ago. It was my pride a joy.
The night before England v Denmark 2nd round WC 2002 (England won 3-0)
I've never got over it really.
Anyway, harsh luck, but it could have been worse...

We've never had a car stolen, but hubby's car has been broken into twice and there have been a couple of attempted break-ins on mine. We never leave anything of value in the car, but it's still a bloomin' nuisance getting the repair work done. Every sympathy to you and your missus, Ant.

A friend in Seattle had a lot of trouble with his car being broken into. He got several of the "Danger High Voltage" stickers, modified them to read "12,000 mVolts", which is quite accurate (12 Volts), and stuck them on the back windows.
Didn't have a problem after that.
