I don't believe that your yob situation will improve until they can observe that it's not worth their while behaving as they do! The answer is to apply the strict deterent of penalties . Of course, to the frustration of decent folk and the police, this will not happen while the do gooders control the political and judicial situation, so you'd better get used to it!
I suppose that if you could convince yourself, as do the dogooders, that these deviants are not worthless evil yobs and in many instances the offspring of the same , you could come to condone their antisocial behavior ,you could then place the blame for their lack of responsibility firmly on society !
The real answer is of course to hold them resposible, and make them/or their parents pay for their antisocial activities , and more !
It comes down to the lack of morals and resposibility prevailing in society , the immorallities of the so called entertainment industry doesn't help, together with the media usually looking to the obscure in order to attract and sell it's product.
Observe the pathetic but lucrative antics of the so called entertainers the Jacksons, the fact that such rubbish is considered to be entertainment at all indicates that morality and entertainment standards have reached the gutter !
The media professes concern about the six so called 'Brits' who are about to be released from Camp Delta,Guantanamo Cuba, I have not yet heard the media ask what these 'Brits' were doing in Iraq /Afghanistan in the first place, the media proffesses concern about the human right of these interns ,it is not at all concerned about the mischief that they were intent upon !
There are many desperate and decent law abiding people in this world who would like nothing better than to be clothed fed and housed on a Caribean island !

Alan, I agree with you 100%. Your first paragraph hit the nail on the head, first time.
Nothing will ever change until (as you quite rightly say) the police and the judiciary are not influenced (if not controlled) by the do-gooders.
I held out high hopes for the new ,`Anti-social hehaviour charter`. It took ages to become law and what happens? The first people to have it imposed upon them, ignore it! The courts therefore have the full weight of the law behind them to enforce it upon these yobs and what happens? They give the offenders a second and a third chance, when in reality it should be, `You had your chance, you didn`t take it, so have some free accomodation at Her Majesties Pleasure`.
Going off on a slight tangent, what other behaviour can we expect these days, when a `family` TV program highlighting driving lessons showing a husband and wife having heated exchanges where every other word was a four letter one, showed their two children (aged about 6 or 7) sitting in the back seat. If they grow up thinking that this is the norm, THEN GOD HELP US ALL.
Whilst I am still on my soap-box, I would like to say that I, for one, am ashamed of pointing the finger and laughing at Mary Whitehouse when she was campaigning against the lowering of moral standards in this country. She has been proven to be correct and we were the fools in refusing to listen to her(or at least -I was).

Has anyone considered the following :-
New Developments-
1) Leyland Tiger - approx 20 homes
2) Leyland Lane site - approx 100 homes
3) 3 new sites off goldenhill - approx 120 homes
4) Buckshaw Village - approx 1000 new homes
5) Site opposite Railway Staion - approx 70 new homes
Thats approx 1310 new homes - average occupancy 3 people
That,s 3933 people (approx (lol)) moving into the area in the near future - statistics show 19% of young people have an encounter with the police - which say's using 10% as a guide that we will have in the region of 393 new yobs to contend with... a nice thought...
Also if everyhouse has a car then a further 1390 cars minimum will be adding to leyands fragile traffic eco-system - at this rate there will be no car parks for yobs as they will all be full of cars!!! indeed so will most of the road structure.
Result...
Yob Gridlock - a new buzz word.....
Enjoy -
Ps thats not including the proposed development on the old leyland mtrs site, behind Arnold Clarke.....

So, coming from Preston, one turns right into Golden Hill Lane, across the path of traffic coming up Chapel Brow, is that correct ?
If so , the next stage will undoubtedly be to drive anticlockwise around roundabouts ! , could you perhaps have a North American in your traffic planning office !

Alan; You may be interested to know that on a visit to Mexico City last year, I almost stepped into oncoming traffic on a 'round-about', because on some major round-abouts in Mexico City, there are lanes for traffic to go clockwise, and anti-clockwise !! And it seemed to work OK too ;-))

And if doctors in Leyland are anything like they are round here, most doctors' lists are full - dentists too - how are these people going to access medical care?

Its clever you see... the Buckshaw Village Development falls under chorley health authority, but it has a "PR" postcode which links it to leyland so they have split the burden......

Actually the boundary of south ribble and chorley goes straight through the "Buckshaw" village, part of it being the old manor of Worden Hall with the original Old Worden Hall in the centre.
We at the Leyland Historical Society are waiting to see the plans to restore it

One by-product of the new one-way system is the fact that you now take your life in your hands after visiting the Natwest bank. Trying to cross Golden Hill Lane (either on foot or in the car) is hair raising due to the fact that traffic passing the railway station has an uniterrupted fast flow into the lane.
