The only one I remember is the one by the council offices down West Paddock, I never actually went in it. Are there any other places for teenagers to hang out in Leyland?

I remember Farington Youth Club around 72/73, St Ambroses on a Sunday night, 2 rooms, one for soul and northern, the other for rock!!!, Civic Hall on a Monday night and the Methodist Youth club, I think it was open most nights and had a disco on a Friday night, Steve Plumb and Iain Brewster used to DJ, does anybody know what happened to those two?

Hi Anne or is it Anne Marie?
I lived a short walk away from St Ambrose for the best part of twenty years and didn't know about the music nights, how long ago was this?

Hi Martin - it's Ann Marie
It was about 26 years ago (god that's frightening!!) so that would be 74/75 - it was a real event every Sunday night. Myself and all my friends used to practice our 'dance steps' to things like Soul City Walking and the Hustle and wear matching outfits!! What can I say - we were young!!!

Hi Steve, your post made me laugh. I remember the chippy in Farrington, isn't it near the Rose and Crown pub?
I thought that chippy was one of the best, seems it went the way of all the others and was taken over.
If you want, I can set up a page for local pictures, let me know and I'll work on it.

I thiunk my gran may have been responsible for starting the pram race! and im pretty sure my uncle shamed the family by getting disqualified !

I used to go to St. John's Youth Club at Earnshaw Bridge around 1961ish. Run by a rather ineffectual young clergyman, and we weren't allowed music ( ' the Devil's handservant', no doubt!). We had a trip out up Parlick Pike, and he had a mini-breakdown under the duress, we had to practically carry him back down, it was a searingly hot day but he kept his dog-collar on till the last....
