Yes, Noel we are close to the border. By road, we're 67 miles away, but 20 of those are to get from Anacortes east to Interstate 5, before we turn north. We're actually quite bit further north in latitude than the BC capital of Victoria. The border turns SSW off-shore from the western mainland of BC. It divides group of islands into The San Juans (US) and the Gulf Islands (Canadian) and goes between those islands and the east coast of Vancouver Island. It then heads west along the Strait of Juan de Fuca, separating the south end of Vancouver Island from the north edge of the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State.

Straight line miles in the air would be about 45 to the mainland border.

Frank, have you sampled 'Pojo's' delicious fish and chips at Steveston harbour - Richmond , Vancouver?

Other than the home made variety ,the only other good fish and chips that I've tasted in over thirty years in Canada were at the "Rose and Crown" pub in Kingston, Ontario, a pub owned and run by young Eddie Walker, who used to live in Leyland !

Not yet Alan. That's on the next trip. My last visits to Vancouver were to pick up my sister when she flew in and two weeks later when she flew home again. She prefers to fly through on one airplane or non-stop from/to Manchester and Air Transat is the only way she can do it. Nothing is available Mancester-Seattle without a change somewhere.

On both trips, I was going back across the border within 90 minutes of going into Canada.

Da Vinci Wine Bar and Restaurant menu looks appetising - any reviews from LF members? What are the restaurant meals prices, around 12 pounds per meal?

MY daughter-in-law's brother is chef for Da Vincis, worked at Quattros for quite a few years so should be good.
