I thought it meant "tilled land", not "untilled" but I could be wrong.

However, I do remember someone (though I can't remember who) telling me to crouch down in Worden Park, round about the pond and looking back towards the main gate. I did so, and could clearly make out the undulations still there from when it was "ploughed" by horse power in the centuries before tractors and the shallow furrows they were able to make were about 10-15ft apart. Try it!
