Wheelie Bins
#1
OK Guys..i have only lived in leyland a year or so and the fact that we dont have proper wheelie bins in the worden park area is very annoying..anyone know if they are on the way ? We seem to generate far too much rubbish for a little black bin and I hate lugging bin bags about every friday morning.

Megas, A couple of years back, South Ribble residents were asked to vote on several aspects of rubbish disposal and if memory serves me correctly I think we voted against wheelie bins. Having said that, our personal amount of rubbish to go into the bags has halved since the introduction of brown bins, green boxes, blue bags and free composters.

We've got Brown ones in Farington Moss/Lostock Hall for garden waste. And of course the Blue Bags for newspapers.

Here in Pomona, California, we have three wheelie's, big ones, 3 feet 6 inches high x 2ft. 6 inches square. A black one for anything, a blue one for recyling, and a green one for 'greens'. When full, they are quite heavy to roll about. Our garbage collection comes around each Wednesday morning, three seperate trucks. If we have something unusual to dispose of, we have to phone city hall to arrange a pick up...it works well.

Coo! Leyland is obviously streets ahead of Wigan on the recycling front. We only had paper recycling introduced borough-wide a couple of months back after a successful trial in the area I live in. Everything else just goes into the wheelie bin, unless you're a very conscientious soul and cart a load of stuff to the recycling centre.

I can confirm that Farington has brown wheelies for garden waste.
