Work has begun on what looks like some sort of footings for a building, a waiting room perhaps ?

I watched that too Dave. Also he visited the automobile museum. Noted he didn't stop the night at the Railway pub, as Bradshaw did.

It's still available to watch on BBC iPlayer. I noticed that they drove from the museum to the park in about 1/2 a second

Hello, we did a little piece about improvement works at the railway station in the Leyland Guardian a couple of weeks ago -
Plans to build a new ticket office at Leyland Railway Station have been postponed. Network Rail planned to complete the project by the end of 2013, but work is yet to start. There has been a delay due to a redesign, so work will now start in January and finish in February. Hope this helps.

I noticed a cage at the rear of the new ticket office. Will this be used to detain fare dodgers

It used to be that most of the trains going between Manchester and Blackpool stopped at Leyland. When I was at Blackpool Tech.(1959-61), I took an 07:50 train to Blackpool North every day (Black Five pulling it and the carriages with 8-a- side seating in compartments that only had exterior doors - no corridors). The return was about 16:45 from Blackpool, I think.
How many trains per day stop at Leyland these days? Frank

Not many! And they are the slow trains, stopping at every station. It is quicker to go to Preston and come back again.

Living close to Lostock Hall that would be my station for Blackpool. Lovely trip across the hills into Yorkshire too from there.
