The Webs most interesting sites.
#1
I thought that one way to comply with this sections brief of
"Take us somewhere different for a change" was to share three of the most interesting sites on the web with each other. This is a chance for us all to share some sites which will amaze each other, educate and make time fly. I know that we won't all agree that each others sites are good but it will be interesting to share our favourites.

My first contribution is a site that will help expand anyones mind http://satellite.ehabich.info/

This is a site that will show you what the earth looks like at the time you view the site, it will show you night approaching, which bits are in darkness, you can see where recent earthquakes have happened, volcanos that are currently erupting, satellites and rockets flying overhead and see the International Space Stations location and track with a circle on the globe to show who can see it at this moment. You can install these images as backgrounds or screensavers which automatically update themselves every 20 minutes.

The second site is http://visibleearth.nasa.gov/ which is a collection of some spectacular images of the earth from space. Be warned though, you can select lower resolutions of most images but occasionally the images are 35 megabytes in size (this translates to don't click on these if you have a dial up connection).

My last contribution is http://visibleearth.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/viewrecord?5826 which is a view of our planet at night, see which parts of the globe are inhabited enough to have lights visible from space, it's all very interesting.

Do any of you have three mind expanding websites to share with us that beat these three.

Thanks for those sites David. I was suprised at how quickly time flew by as I dived into them.
I have several sites that I enjoy, I suspect however that other people would probibly prefer to watch paint drying (I`m using my wife as a yard-stick - here)[:p][:p].

Glad you both like them, Jim the only way to find out if the sites bore us is to post them here, or you can wait until you find three really good ones to beat my three.

I know that we can all go and find millions of sites on our own, but it's nice to see what others have picked out as sites that stand out from the crowd.

Thanks for the links David.

Here's a link that I think the forum members will like. It's the nasa cassini website.

This is a fascinating mission and I can't wait for more pictures to arrive.
