William has mailed a photo to me

quote:

Can anyone identify the team or provide any other information.
All I can say is that the young man on the bottom row far right is Sam Sinfield -he was born in 1911 and started as an apprentice
at Leyland Motors at 14.

Could it be a Leyland Motors team from way back?

The photograph may have been taken in front of the old
LMSAC Pavilion early 1930's. Another possibility is a Bamber Bridge team possibly St Saviours.

The photographers name was J Cardwell

How about passing it on to the LEP or Leyland Guardian and asking if any readers recognise the team?

Its a really good photo just think of the interest it might stir up. Nothing like a photo full of memories. I use to work at our local church and when we got donations of photo's and albums with no names on it always made me feel sad. I think I would rather burn my pictures if I am the last one in my family rather than leave them to the unknown.

My brother Keith Gardner played for the Senior School football team around 1948 dont suppose anyone has pictures of them could have been up to 1950.

I am pretty sure that the photo would have been an apprentice team but then again!
My Dad worked at L M all his working life from about 1925 -approx 1977.
A bit difficult to be sure how old they are but I don't think the photo would have been older than 1929 or 30 making Sam about 17 or 18.
Interesting though.
