Kwik Save sold
#1
quote:

A Leyland supermarket has been sold to a mystery buyer as part of a major shake-up by supermarket bosses.

Although the new owner of the town's Kwik Save supermarket, in Towngate, has not been revealed, former bosses, Somerfield, said all jobs are safe and workers will transfer to the new operator at the end of March.

The rumour is Netto.

I was in there yesterday and I heard from someone that it was going to become a Netto. They have a sale on at the moment. I have never seen a supermarket have a closing down sale before!

The Kwik Save in Chorley was sold at the same time but is apparently being demolished to make way for housing.

Netto-just what Leyland needs, ANOTHER cheap supermarket! (Reportedly even cheaper than Kwik Save). We used to be known as the home of Leyland trucks and buses-now we're known as a repository for supermarkets! They must occupy almost as many square feet as the old Leyland Motors! (at least it seems that way).
