Hulmes Mill land sale

It's the size of a football pitch - and it could be yours for just £175k

WOULD-BE buyers are asked to look at the potential rather than the weeds – but a slice of Leyland could be yours for £175,000.
An area of land, off St Andrew's Way, is open to offers, after land owners South Ribble Council decided it was surplus to requirements.
The 0.95 acre stretch of land, formerly the home of Hulme's Mill, has been derelict for over 15 years.
The plot, almost the size of a regulation footbal pitch, is next to Tesco supermarket and opposite Body Logic.

I often wondered what was going to happen to this spare land.

Here's a quick update...

quote:

The 0.95 acre Hulme's Mill site on St Andrew's Way has been unoccupied for 15 years and has been used as an unofficial car park.
It was put out to tender with an original asking price of £175,000, and with the number of interested parties totalling double figures, one scheme came out on top as the preferred option.
According to the cabinet meeting, the proposal which scored most highly in the evaluation process was a bistro/wine bar eaterie, with 24 units of affordable housing also part of the scheme.
The identity of the preferred bidder has not been revealed and bosses at South Ribble Borough Council have declined to speak publicly about the plans while negotiations continue.
However if the scheme goes ahead as expected it will complete a vital piece of the jigsaw in the regeneration of Leyland town centre.
