Wellington Park
#21

I hope you all saw the article in the Leyland Guardian that this Blog stimulated.

I can state quite definately that Wellington Park is not in liquidation, receivership or "going under".

Bookings are up and everyone is working hard at Wellington Park.
It is careless talk by people without the full facts that make things look bad.

Wellington Park is alive and well

To Noel,It is the same person He was Auto Smart, for some time after serving his time as a corgi registered gas fitter, he then went back on the tools working for himself for many years, to Neil, Eric is the son of Ron Nixon My Mother Doris`s Brother, of Victoria Terrace Leyland, My mother married Norman Harrison from Bolton and I am their only offspring, I was a good friend of Your Fathers brothers Nevil and Don who saved my life when I was a Firefighter with them both on Leyland firebrigade and also at Leyland motors for many years, and was a customer of Nevils when he was a Blacksmith after the demise of the Motors when I was a Driving Instructor teaching disabled people, he made variouse equipment I devised as an ex engineer for my business, Dave Harrison S.O.M., these adaptations I used to help them drive in my specially equipped cars for 25 years before my retirement to Crete on health grounds in 2006. What relation are you to Eric and Family Neil? I must have been related to Nevil Don And Duncan without knowing, what a small world.

I remember Ron very well. He and my uncle Ron Baker ran the Boys' Brigade company at the Methodist Church for many years. The Bakers lived at 31 Balcarres Road, just a stone's throw from Victoria Terrace. My great Auntie Nan lived at number 6 Victoria Terrace for a while.

Uncle Neville and Uncle Donald are well. Neville is a widower now but has a lady friend (at 85) Uncle Donald is nursing Auntie Jean who has Dementia. Eric's Auntie Lucy was married to my Great Uncle Arthur who was a lay preacher at the Methodists with my Mums dad, Joe Cherrington.

Many thanks to Frank and Neil, sorry for spelling Neville`s name wrongly, sounds like he will never change even at 85, hope that Don can cope with Jeans problems, he is a strong willed chap as your father was. Frank I think Eric and his sister susan are still involved a little in the activities of the Meths, we still keep in touch by phone,

I heard there was a meeting to decide the future of Wellington Park, this week. From what I heard it's split into several smaller businesses, the plan was to bring it all under one management. That's what I was told anyway by someone whose husband was at the meeting.
